Hi there,
I’m a Leo Sun, Aquarius Rising, and Sagittarius Moon. That paints a vivid picture, but it’s only part of the story.
It took me a while to mature into my Leo essence, as I mainly viewed it through the lens of its shallowness and attention-seeking. Aquarian qualities always reared their head as I was raised to be a diplomat and peacemaker. I remember clearly when, at the age of 12, indignant, I wrote a dissertation on how we othered immigrants in Poland—ironic enough for a country that was othered by other empires to the point of its annihilation for 100 years!
I have a fond relationship with language. Partially, I owe it to my mum, a Polish literature teacher, with whom my most cherished memory involved us sprawled on a bed, burrowed in piles of dictation papers that we would proceed to correct together. My desire to connect through language pushed me to create a made-up language with my sister, who suffered from a speech impairment condition, and later in life, apply for a linguistics undergraduate major to become the voice of others, translating English and French material. Somehow, I still felt hollow inside—me, a mere echo of voices that weren’t my own.
Being a shadow artist, writing in the confines of my journal helped me process my life on the page and keep the umbilical cord with creativity unsevered. Only when I dared to share it with others by attending fiction and memoir workshops did I find the true Leo expression that still flickered as a faint glow. Some layers of emotional frosting started to thaw when I typed:
Ever since I remember, I’ve been a voiceless child. A child that embraced a new identity with the humble tenacity of running water, taking the shape of any vessel it was poured into .
Sharing my truth unvarnished was fueled by the signature quality of Leo—courage, whose Latin origins of cor (not by chance) mean heart. Living life wholeheartedly with the audacity to take space and let others do the same.
As a highly sensitive empath, I am always attuned to the vibrations of other people and places. Astrology and human design found me when I needed something to validate my difficult experience and show me the glimmer of possibility (or maybe it was my relentless Virgo and Capricorn drive to pierce the veil and excavate the shadow lurking in my 8th and 12th house stelliums).
I’m a big believer in reclaiming self-agency when going through periods of shedding, so these tools gave me actionable insights on how to flow with the current of change and find my gold.
I live by the principles of curious inquiry, always looking for new glimmers that can make life taste more delicious.
